The Sabuncuoglu Scholarship is awarded annually to Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students who have completed Year 12 and enrolled into their first year of University. The aim of the scholarship is to help students financially and intellectually to become future leaders for the greater Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander community. Expressions of interest open in July each year and the scholarship is awarded in January. The Sabuncuoglu Scholarship is a private philanthropic, social initiative of Deniz and Natalie Sabuncuoglu, founders and directors of DENAT Group.

Criteria

Successful applicants must be from Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander origin. The scholarship recipient will be assessed on the criteria below: ​

• Academic performance and Year 12 results

• Involvement in the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities

• Commitment to give back to the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander communities when studies are complete and they become leaders.

 

Benefits

The successful scholarship recipient will receive the following: 

• $2,500 in cash support (paid across the first two semesters of first year of university)

• $2,500 worth of career coaching (with a mentor over one year)

• A paid internship with DENAT Group or with one of our associated partners
